KEy TO Weight Loss

by Skinny Farmer

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Now that the long weekend of eating that marks the unofficial end of summer is over, it's time to get down to business.

The Holidays will be here before you know it and it is time to get our eating right before things get too crazy.  The key to eating right is what I hinted to in the title to this post.

The Key To weight loss is Keto.

What is that?  I'm going to tell you.

As I wrote about in my post Weight Loss Hack Revealed, there are really two keys to losing weight.

I'm going to discuss the second key in this post.  I'm not going to mention the first key here because many people find that one scary.  If you don't think it will scare you and you want to know more, I recommend you go here to read about it.

In this post I'm going to introduce you to the Ketogenic Diet, or Keto for short.

The Keto diet is a very low carbohydrate diet.  With Keto, you want to focus on counting carbs, not calories.

Of course, if you eat too many calories, you won't loose weight.  But if you do Keto correctly, you won't be as hungry as you typically are with a high-carb diet that most Americans eat on a daily basis.

How low should you go?

For me, I find Keto works best if I keep my carbohydrate intake at 20 grams or below.  That is 20 or below per day...not per meal.

That is pretty low considering the average American eating 2,000 calories per day will often consume between 225 and 325 grams of carbs each and every day!

One can of soda contains more than 24 grams of carbs.  That is more than your allotment for the day.

So the first thing I had to do was cut out any and all soda.  But I drink diet soda, you say.  I avoid that too for reasons I will discuss in a future blog post.

While I was at it, I had to cut out potatoes (more than 30 grams of carbs), and my beloved bread (more than 13 grams of carbs per slice--and who can each just one slice??).

What should I eat instead?

In the beginning, I upped my fat intake.  That helps curb your hunger.  Healthy fats are best, such as avocados and olive oil or coconut oil.

I also try to eat some protein with each meal, but not too much.  I aim for around 6 to 8 ounces of protein.  Eggs are a fabulous choice.

The rest of my plate is filled with veggies.  I try to eat a salad with each meal.  The dark green leafy salad greens have become a favorite of mine.  I eat more vegetables than anything else.

It was somewhat of a shock to my system at first.  But then, within a week or so, I grew to love this way of eating.  I lost the taste for the junk food.  I bet you will too.

Eating like this makes me feel great.  And I'm hardly ever hungry.

Give it a try.  Commit to eating like this for two weeks and see how you feel.
