Cruise Control
By Skinny Farmer
I'm back from my trip and I'm ready to report on how I did.
As I wrote last time, I was about to leave on a trip and was struggling to come up with a plan to properly follow my Keto diet along with my Intermittent Fasting while travelling.
As you may have guessed from the title of this post that I was on a cruise.
I can sum up my cruise experience with regard to healthy eating on the cruise in one word:
Disastrous!
I think I ate healthy for the first plate of my first meal.
All subsequent plates of that meal and all additional meals were, shall we say, less than optimal.
Don't get me wrong; I LOVED the cruise. What a great vacation! But I did a terrible job of sticking to my plan. Therefore, I have two major issues to resolve:
One, I need to get back on track. So I will be starting over. If you have never done Keto or Intermittent Fasting (IF) and are looking to try it out, or if you too need to start over, come join me. We can start together.
The second issue is, I LOVED the cruise and plan to cruise again. I need to figure out how to do it without having to destroy my healthy eating plan.
Willpower won't do it.
The food is phenomenal and ubiquitous.
Part of the cruise experience is trying dishes you have never had before.
I have written before that eating is a social event. That is especially true on a cruise where you are meeting new people and visiting new places. You are going to want to eat.
I need to have a better system next time.
To get myself back on track, I'm eating completely Keto now. I'm not trying to fast just yet. Once I reduce the carbs to almost zero and get enough fat, my hungry subsides, which makes the fasting much easier. So I figure in about three days I'll be ready to start some IF.
To clarify: I'm eating three meals a day and trying to keep my total carbs for the day below 20. I'm trying to avoid snacking.
I will write more about my journey back to the good side so we can keep each other motivated.
One thing is for sure: I feel like crap. The food was fun, but I'm paying the price. It is a stark difference from how I feel when I'm doing things the right way.
I'm looking forward to feeling good again. How about you?
