Sow Good

We hope you have noticed our tag line by now.

Sow Good

It's not just a motto. It is our Mission Statement here at The Skinny Farmer.

Personally, I think it's pretty clear and speaks for itself.

That reminds me.

Whenever I hear the phrase, it speaks for itself, it calls to mind of one of my favorite old professors.  I'll call him Professor K.  Back in the day, if a student ever said in class that something speaks for itself, he would indicate for us to be quiet, lift it up to his ear, and listen.  Then he would raise his eyebrows and say, "I don't hear anything."

In honor of Professor K, I'll do some speaking in this blog post on behalf of our Mission Statement.  Especially since it directly relates to my not actually being a farmer--at least in the technical sense.

This is not simply a weight loss blog.  We plan to write about living a better life.  Being a healthy weight and living a healthy lifestyle are both a goal and a means to accomplish other goals.  We will be blogging about lots of interesting topics.

What does a farmer do?  Sow seeds.  Seeds that he hopes will grow into wonderfully nutritious things.

What does The Skinny Farmer do?  Sow Good everywhere.   Good things that nourish the mind, the body, and, we hope, the spirit. We plant those seeds of goodness in the hope that they will grow into ever greater Good.

But we can't do it alone.  We want...indeed, we need your help.

How can I help, you ask?  There are lots of ways.  Let me suggest a few:

First, if you haven't already, please subscribe.  Just click the Subscribe button above, and put in your email address.  It will probably make you prove you aren't a robot.  Then it will send you an email to verify that your email address is correct and ask you to click the verification therein.  You don't have to create an account.  If it asks you to, double check that you clicked the correct link (I had a friend who experienced this issue).

Second, come back here often and leave some comments.  We want this to be interactive.  Post your agreement, or disagreement in the Comments down below.  Others may be thinking the same thing as you. We'd love to hear your ideas as well.  What would you like us to write about? You are even allowed to comment anonymously.

Next, spread the word.  Share this blog on social media. Email it.  Tweet it.  Post it.  Follow us on Twitter @FarmerSkinny Tell your friends and neighbors. Or just share the information.  We can learn from each other.  As Professor K aptly pointed out, it can't speak for itself.

We are also looking for guest bloggers.  If you would like to sow some good, contact us at skinnyfarmerlife@gmail.com and let us know what you have in mind.

Make a commitment to yourself to live a healthier lifestyle.  Post your commitment in the comments
below.  It will help you get on track.  See yourself as the healthy person you want to become.

Most importantly, strive to help others.  Sow your own good.  There can never be too much and
we'd love to see a bumper crop.

Thanks for visiting.
