THE BEST THING TO DO FOR LUNCH WHILE FASTING
Hint: You will feel like a kid again!
By Skinny Farmer
Here at the Skinny Farmer we strive to not only write about what to do, but how to do it.
In my experience, the second part is where I always need advice and help when I'm starting something new. I sincerely hope that this blog helps you and encourages you in that regard.
For example, when I started fasting, I had done the research, and was aware of many of the health benefits of the practice. What wasn't so clear to me was how to do it.
I know what your are thinking: "Just don't eat! Duh!"
Well, it's a little more complicated than that. For one thing, before I started fasting, I never realized how much time I was spending eating. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, midnight snack, grazing while reading, grabbing a pick-me-up snack when I stop for gas. It was a major part of my life.
I like to eat. I've been doing it all my life.
So when I started fasting, I all the sudden had all of this extra time on my hands which would normally be filled with food. How do I fill that time? Well I'll tell you.
I needed activities to fill the time I used to spend eating. Especially something that is not around food, which would tempt me with my weak will power to break my fast.
That is a problem I still struggle with. One solution I found for my lunch break that I think is the best use of that time, and if you try it, I think you will agree.
I bet you are thinking I'm going to say "go to the gym." Well, that would be nice, but with my work schedule, that is really not a realistic option. Besides, I like to go to the gym first thing in the morning, but that is for a different blog post.
For me, the best use of my lunch break is to take a nap.
Yep, a nap.
Not a long one. 10 to 15 minutes is all I need to feel refreshed. It's like pushing the reset button for your brain.
After a short nap I feel energized and ready to focus. Plus, sleep helps with burning fat and also stimulates the production of growth hormone (which helps slow the aging process).
Besides, taking a nap makes me feel like a kid again!
You could go to your car and turn on the a/c or the heat, depending upon the weather and take a quick nap. One of those neck pillows helps. Set an alarm if you feel you need one. I have perfected the ability to nap for about 10 minutes and wake up on my own. It's like a little vacation in the middle of the workday.
Give it a try. I think you will like it.

Until next time.
