I'm going to have to use the "F" word
by Skinny Farmer
I've tried to avoid using the "F" word, but sometimes it is called for. You might want to use it too.
As you know, I had fallen off the wagon of my weight loss, but I'm getting back on track. I've been eating solid Keto for well over a week now and I'm feeling great. But I'm not losing weight as quickly as I'd like. That makes me want to use the "F" word.
So here goes. Cover your ears if you are sensitive,
I'm going to have to FAST. There, I said it.
I know many of you don't like hearing that word. I used to hate it as well. But I've grown to love it.
The fasting I'm talking about is healthy, Intermittent Fasting (IF).
I previously wrote about how the Keto Diet and Intermittent Fasting were keys to healthy weight loss.
Well, I'm adding Intermittent Fasting back into my regimen.
I'm not a medical doctor, but I firmly believe IF is good for you. I used to believe what I was told that you should eat 6 small meals a day and make sure don't skip breakfast. I was also a believer in those so-called healthy snacks. I did all that and never lost any weight.
The light bulb went on for me when I learned that in the presence of the hormone Insulin, fat burning shuts down.
I'll write that again because it is important. If there is Insulin in your bloodstream, your body won't burn fat.
The second part of the puzzle is when I learned what spikes Insulin: Eating.
Any time you eat pretty much anything, Insulin is produced. And as I learned, in the presence of Insulin, fat burning stops.
So each time I ate one of those healthy snacks or small meals, I was spiking my Insulin and no fat was burned. Hence, no weight loss.
So to truly burn significant fat, I'm back to IF. I am spreading out my meals as much as possible with absolutely no snacking in between. That means no breakfast. Since I've been fasting all night when I'm sleeping, I want to extend that fast as long as possible and have my breakfast/lunch as late in the day as I can go. Then I have a dinner and no late night snack.
This is why the Keto diet is so important. It keeps me from being hungry, so I can fast for longer periods of time.
I am working toward one meal per day. I did that earlier in the year and it worked like a charm.
I'm even working on some prolonged fasts of 48 hours or more, but more about that in a future post.
Do not undertake fasting without consulting your physician. And do your own research. I'm betting you will be like me and be surprised at all of the health benefits of fasting. I will write about those in the future as well.
So if you haven't already, hit the subscribe button above so you won't miss any of our posts. Also, comment below if you have any experience with fasting, either good or bad. We truly want this to be interactive.
Give fasting a try. I think you may wind up liking it, just like I did.
Until next time.

In animal studies, this modified fasting 5:2 diet resulted in decreased fat, decreased hunger hormones (leptin), and increased levels of a protein responsible for improvements in fat burning and blood sugar regulation (adiponectin). intermittent fasting 16 10
