QUESTion for You
I have a question for you.
As a reader, this has an impact upon you just as much, if not more, than it has on me. So I would like your opinion. Post your answer down below in the Comments section.
For those of you who have been following this know that I have often written that I am on a journey and that I want you to join me on it.
I write that for several reasons: First, as you know, despite my name, I haven't yet reached my goal of being Skinny. But I will. So I write that I'm on a journey.
Additionally, I write that I want you to join me on this journey because I really want the best for you. I want you to join us as we work and learn and develop healthier lives. If you join us, we can help keep each other accountable.
Only I am dumb enough to start a blog called the Skinny Farmer when I am neither Skinny nor a farmer. But if I keep working the plan, both those goals will be realized.
I ask you to join me on the journey because with you following me, I better stay on track lest you will call me out.
And I don't want that.
Likewise, if you subscribe, you will receive our posts right in your email box. Maybe that will be a little reminder to you to keep on track. So if you haven't already, please subscribe. It's quick and easy, and, most importantly, it's free! All you have to to is click on the Subscribe button above and fill in your email address. How easy is that?
As I said, there is a benefit to both of us if we stick together on this journey.
We will keep each other in line as we plow ahead together. (That's a little farm humor).
Anyway, back to the question I have for you.
My partner in crime--who you will meet shortly--recommended that I stop writing that we are on a journey.
Really?
What should I write instead, I asked.
She suggested that instead of writing that I'm on a journey, to write that I'm on a quest.
Hmmmmmm. I had to think about that one.
It sounds good, but honesty, I wasn't sure what the difference was. So, like I tend to do, I did a little research.
I found the following explanations that related it to writing and literature. For fun I looked at what they had to say about adventure as well. Since I like reading and writing, I think I'll go with the following definitions:
According to writingonpoint.com, the distinction is as follows:
A Journey is when the trip is more important than the destination.
A Quest is a trip to accomplish a task.
An Adventure is a trip without a destination.
(See http://writingonpoint.com/post/quest-adventure-journey/)
Goodness knows, most of my life has been an Adventure--that's for sure.
But now I'm on either a Quest or a Journey. I need you to help me decide.

I'm of two minds. I could go either way with it. I have some thoughts, but I don't want to sway you one way or the other, so I'm going to hold those thoughts for a future post.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Until next time.

I say quest and journey as you are on both. Quest to accomplish getting healthier and journey because you will encounter and learn many new things along the way.
ReplyDeletel like journey better but than again quest does fit - your pick
