Dancing In September

September is Self-Improvement Month. How cool is that? As the leaves begin to change, so too you can begin your change.

Sow Good

We hope you have noticed our tag line by now. Sow Good It's not just a motto. It is our Mission Statement here at The Skinny Farmer. Personally, I think it's pretty clear and speaks for itself. That reminds me. Whenever I hear the phrase, it speaks for itself , it calls to mind of one of my favorite old professors.  I'll call him Professor K.  Back in the day, if a student ever said in class that something speaks for itself, he would indicate for us to be quiet, lift it up to his ear, and listen.  Then he would raise his eyebrows and say, "I don't hear anything." In honor of Professor K, I'll do some speaking in this blog post on behalf of our Mission Statement.  Especially since it directly relates to my not actually being a farmer--at least in the technical sense.

Weight Loss Hack Revealed

For those of you who jumped ahead to read this blog post in front of the prior ones, I say welcome. For the rest of you, you probably have been waiting to read what I have been doing to lose weight.  What is the secret weight loss hack? I'm going to tell you, but first, I ask you to have an open mind. You might read the secret and think it isn't for you.  If you read with that prejudice, you might deprive yourself of the best weight loss system I have ever tried.  Believe me, it's worth a try. Furthermore, it doesn't just help you lose weight.  Following this plan I am more energetic and many of my everyday aches and pains have gone away.  I believe it will do the same for you.

QUESTion for You

I have a question for you. As a reader, this has an impact upon you just as much, if not more, than it has on me.  So I would like your opinion.  Post your answer down below in the Comments section. For those of you who have been following this know that I have often written that I am on a journey and that I want you to join me on it. I write that for several reasons: First, as you know, despite my name, I haven't yet reached my goal of being Skinny.  But I will.  So I write that I'm on a journey. Additionally, I write that I want you to join me on this journey because I really want the best for you.  I want you to join us as we work and learn and develop healthier lives.  If you join us, we can help keep each other accountable.  Only I am dumb enough to start a blog called the Skinny Farmer when I am neither Skinny nor a farmer.  But if I keep working the plan, both those goals will be realized. I ask you to join me on the journey bec...

A Couch in a Donut Shop

I looked like I lived on a couch in a donut shop. No matter how much I worked out....No matter how much I dieted....No matter how much I suffered, it didn't matter. I was fat. I know the thin people would look at me and think, "If he would just stop eating all those donuts and get up off the couch once in a while, you would be thin...like meeee ." Ever feel that way? The truth was, I hadn't touched a donut in years.  No, for me, if I looked at a carrot, I'd gain weight. I didn't veg on the couch in front of the television either.  I was too busy with work and life.  I didn't even have cable. I exercised and tried to eat right. Was I perfect? No. Nobody is. But occasional slip ups didn't account for being so overweight.  They couldn't.  I needed to lose over 100 pounds! I didn't start out fat.  I was almost underweight when I was born.  Ounces away from the incubator, according to my parents.  And I maintained a healthy ...

Another Thing I'm Not

We already established in the last post that I'm not skinny (yet) and that I'm not really a farmer...at least not in the technical sense.  I'll write more about that at a future date. I will be both of those things in the future and will be writing about my journey here. I need, however, to establish one other thing that I am not: I am not a medical doctor. What that means is that nothing that I present to you is to be construed as medical advice. I know what you are thinking: "Why should I listen to this Skinny Farmer, guy?  He is neither skinny, nor a farmer.  Heck, he isn't even a medical doctor." I'll tell you why. You should listen to me because I have already lost about 60 pounds and it has been relatively easy. Seriously. I plan to tell you how I did it and discuss what I'm doing from this point forward. You won't be receiving medical advice from me.  What I will be telling you about is what has worked for me and what hasn...

Confession time

I must confess: I lied to you.  I'm not skinny. Not yet, anyway.  But I will be.  Like I wrote in my last post, I'm on a journey.  And I want you to join me.  So far I have lost close to 60 pounds.  I'd like to lose another 50 or so.  It really hasn't been that hard.  In the past, I was just doing it wrong.  I listened to the "experts." I think I've found some of the answers you may be looking for.  Not all of them.  I still have questions.  But I plan to share here what works and what doesn't work for me.  I hope you will be able to learn from it, and be inspired by it. And I hope you will also share with me (and my other readers) what works for you and what doesn't work for you.  And you can inspire me. In that way we can help each other succeed and live a happier, healthier life.  Leave a comment down below if you are on board. But first I wanted to be honest with you, that even though my name ...

The Disappearing Farmer

The American farmer is disappearing. I'm not talking about agricultural economics; I'm talking about me.  I'm disappearing...in a good way.  I'm losing weight and getting healthy.  And I want you to join me on this journey.  I tried for decades to lose weight and nothing worked.  I'd lose some weight, and then it would come back with a vengeance.  But I think I found the solution.  And I plan to share it with you. Stay tuned.
