I'm Baaaaack!

I just wanted to post a quick note that I am back.  I plan to start posting regularly about health, weight loss, and other items of interest. I also have big plans for the future.  Stuff you are going to really like. So I'm going to keep this short and just say, keep an eye on this space. Until next time! -SF

THE BEST THING TO DO FOR LUNCH WHILE FASTING

Hint: You will feel like a kid again! By Skinny Farmer Here at the Skinny Farmer we strive to not only write about what to do, but how to do it. In my experience, the second part is where I always need advice and help when I'm starting something new. I sincerely hope that this blog helps you and encourages you in that regard. For example, when I started fasting, I had done the research, and was aware of many of the health benefits of the practice.  What wasn't so clear to me was how to do it. I know what your are thinking: "Just don't eat! Duh !" Well, it's a little more complicated than that.  For one thing, before I started fasting, I never realized how much time I was spending eating.  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, midnight snack, grazing while reading, grabbing a pick-me-up snack when I stop for gas.  It was a major part of my life. I like to eat.  I've been doing it all my life. So when I started fasting, I all the sudden had all of this ...

Phonetically Speaking

By Skinny Farmer Have you ever been on the phone trying to give someone your name or the name of a street and finding that you need to spell it for the other party? A as in....apple P as in....pterodactyl Not a huge deal, really, unless it is an emergency. Something a little different today. We here at Skinny Farmer are always looking for ways to improve health and lifestyle and that includes safety.  Emergency preparedness, more specifically. If bad things happen, I want to be ready to do everything I can to keep my loved ones and me safe, and I want to be able to help others as well. So one might find oneself in the situation where a call to 911 is needed. Quick action and clear communication might mean the difference between life and death.  You odds of success are improved with planning and practice. You can't always count on emergency services being able to locate you based upon triangulation of your phone's position.  You might have to communicate an...

Negative Motivation

By Skinny Farmer I'm baaaack!  Sorry about the gap in posting.  Real life was taking all of my time.  But I'm back and hope to post more regularly. Today, let's talk about Negative Motivation. What is Negative Motivation?  Let me tell you.

Get Back on Track Fast

By Skinny Farmer Happy New Year! If you are like most people, myself included, you may have indulged in a few extra treats over the Holidays.  And now the scale (and your clothes) are telling you that you overdid it. By now, hopefully, you are taking steps to get back to what was working before Thanksgiving (or Halloween!). If you are, or if you are looking to kick things off, I have a suggestion that will speed things up:

Pushing the Envelope

By Skinny Farmer We have mentioned it the past that this Blog won't just be about diet.  Having said that, I realize that on many days I'm writing about what to eat and what not to eat. Today isn't one of those days. Today I'm going to discuss an idea that I have used with much success in the past and am starting to use again now.  Maybe you will find it helpful too. Thanksgiving is just behind us and Christmas is around the corner.  Doesn't it seem like it was just the Holidays last year?  Time seems to fly by. How would you like to have money to spend on Thanksgiving and Christmas (or Hanukkah) next year and not have to wipe out your November and December paychecks? There is a way, and I'm going to tell you about it.  It works every time it is used.  But you are going to want to use it right away.

Cruise Control

By Skinny Farmer I'm back from my trip and I'm ready to report on how I did.  As I wrote last time , I was about to leave on a trip and was struggling to come up with a plan to properly follow my Keto diet along with my Intermittent Fasting while travelling. As you may have guessed from the title of this post that I was on a cruise. I can sum up my cruise experience with regard to healthy eating on the cruise in one word:

Skinny Farmer's Travel Challenge

by Skinny Farmer Just a quick note today.  I will be travelling all next week and that brings up two big issues: Number one: I won't have access to a computer or the Internet, so I won't be posting during that week. Number two: I am curious to see how well I do on my Keto and Intermittent Fasting while travelling. I know there are going to be lots of unhealthy temptations.  I also know that when I am out of my routine, it is harder to stick to a healthy eating regimen. I need to approach it with a plan. Hoping to rely upon Willpower is not an acceptable plan. I thought about wiring my jaw shut, but that seemed a bit unpleasant. So I need to figure out how to stay on track while I travel. What works for you?  Post your ideas in the comments. If you haven't already done so, please subscribe by hitting the button up above. I will report back to you on how well I do when I return. Until then, S.F.

I'm going to have to use the "F" word

by Skinny Farmer I've tried to avoid using the "F" word, but sometimes it is called for.  You might want to use it too. As you know, I had fallen off the wagon of my weight loss, but I'm getting back on track.  I've been eating solid Keto for well over a week now and I'm feeling great.  But I'm not losing weight as quickly as I'd like.  That makes me want to use the "F" word. So here goes. Cover your ears if you are sensitive,

I Feel Good

By Skinny Farmer I knew that I would.....now that I'm back on Keto . As I wrote previously, I had screwed up and allowed Carbs back into my life.  I am truly amazed at how quickly the negative effects of carbohydrates impacted me.  They really derailed me. Not just my weight loss either.  I was feeling tired, foggy, sluggish, and I had sinus congestion. Yes, that last one surprised me.
